Genetic Link To Eds

The genetic link to EDS can be frustrating to those who suffer from extreme fatigue and sleepiness.

What to Do About Inheriting Fatigue

While you might have noticed your parents had troubles staying awake during the day, you may not have realized your own troubles with excessive daytime sleepiness until you were much older. You begin to see yourself doing the same things your parents did or that other members of your family did. Though you might have been able to manage your EDS using tips and tricks they have used, this genetic link doesn’t make your sleepiness any easier.

Studies have shown that there does seem to be a genetic link for excessive daytime sleepiness in families. Though this is not a condition which is passed down to every person in a family, it is a condition which is more common among related family members.

Can You Avoid EDS?

When you’re in a family which is predisposed to excessive sleepiness disorder, it might seem as though you are powerless to overcome it. But just because others in your family have not sought help doesn’t mean that you can’t seek out treatments yourself. There are many treatments for EDS today which were not available in the past. And you owe it to yourself to find them and to use them.
