Sleepiness and health issues are intertwined in ways you might not realize.
Fatigue and Safety Matters
When you’re tired, you not only have troubles focusing on what you’re doing, but you’re also going to have troubles with what your body is doing. Your reflexes might not be as alert as they were the day before, causing you to have troubles with everyday tasks – driving, walking, lifting heavy things, etc. A person who has excessive daytime sleepiness will have troubles maintaining their energy, even when it matters most. In order to make sure that you’re not putting yourself or anyone else at risk, make sure that you limit the high energy activities you do so that you can keep yourself safe at all times. This doesn’t mean that you need to necessarily stop living your life, but until you can get your EDS symptoms under control, you might want to have a partner with you at all times to ensure you are staying safe.
Choosing Health and Energy in Your Life
Thankfully, there are many more treatments for excessive daytime sleepiness than there were in the past. From medications to lifestyle changes, you can begin to feel better about your life and about the way your body feels. Though you might still need to change the way you are functioning in your life and you might need to undergo extensive medical therapy if you have a significant problem, realizing that you can cure EDS will help you see that your life is not over just because you feel tired most of the time.
